A man in his 40s died this evening after falling onto the Light Rail Transit (LRT) tracks at the Pusat Bandar Puchong station, along the Sri Petaling line.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said they received an emergency call at 6.05pm and immediately dispatched a team from the Subang Jaya fire station.

“The victim, believed to be Taiwanese, was found unconscious beneath the tracks and is presumed to have died at the scene. Recovery efforts are ongoing,” he said, adding that the cause of the incident and the victim’s identity have yet to be confirmed.

Rapid KL, the rail operator, has temporarily suspended service at four affected stations: Bandar Puteri, Taman Perindustrian Puchong, Pusat Bandar Puchong, and IOI Puchong Jaya. Bus services have been deployed to assist stranded commuters.

Trains from Putra Heights are now turning back at Puchong Perdana, while those from Sentul Timur are turning around at Kinrara BK5.

This incident follows a similar tragedy in February, when an elderly blind man died after falling onto the tracks at the Titiwangsa LRT station. In response, Prasarana Malaysia Bhd announced plans to enhance safety by installing platform sensors and screen doors at LRT stations – a feature already used in the MRT system.
