A two-year-old was safely returned to his family after he was inadvertently left behind at a restaurant in Raub, Pahang. The Raub District Police reported that the child was discovered walking alone near Restoran Azmi Stim on December 1.

A passer-by who noticed the boy near the restaurant stayed with him for about 45 minutes before bringing him to the police station when his parents didn’t return. Police officers then initiated steps to identify and contact the child’s family.

Parents travelled in separate vehicles

According to the couple, they were travelling with their relatives, which were separated in two vehicles from Johor Bahru to Tersan, Dong in Pahang on 30 November. The group stopped at the restaurant for a meal on their return trip. Once they finished eating, each person boarded their respective vehicles.

The parents continued driving under the assumption that their son was already inside one of the cars. It was only upon reaching Kuala Lumpur that they realized the child was not with them, prompting them to make urgent calls to family members. The restaurant then informed them that the boy had been handed over to the police.

Authorities urge parent to be extra vigilant

“It is important for parents to monitor their children closely, especially when travelling in multiple vehicles or larger groups,” the police said.

They also acknowledged the quick action of the individual who ensured the boy’s safety and helped facilitates a swift reunions.
