A shocking medical cosmetic tragedy occurred in Taipei, where a 50-year-old man surnamed Chien died after undergoing a penis enlargement surgery at a clinic in Zhongshan District, Taipei yesterday.
After the procedure, the patient suddenly lost his breathing and heartbeat. When the surgeon, a doctor surnamed Ting, called 119, paramedics confirmed that Chien was already dead at the clinic and did not transport him to the hospital. Police took Ting in for questioning and also summoned the nurse who assisted with the operation to clarify details overnight.
A hasty decision to enlarge his member
According to reports, Chien had arrived at the clinic alone around 9 a.m. on the 17th. It was his first consultation, but he decided on the spot to undergo the penis enlargement surgery, which cost NT$400,000 (~RM55,800). The procedure started around noon. However, once it was completed, Chien inexplicably lost his vital signs and died at the clinic.
Doctor Ting claimed that after the surgery, Chien was resting on the treatment bed. When he checked again around 7 p.m., he discovered that the patient was no longer breathing and immediately called 119. Paramedics confirmed his death and notified the police. Authorities determined the case involved suspicion of negligent homicide, taking Ting in for questioning and summoning the nurse who assisted during surgery. A prosecutor was also dispatched to investigate the incident.
The doctor was previously involved in numerous medical disputes
It is understood that the doctor, Ting, has been previously involved in multiple medical disputes, including complications from penile implant surgeries. In one past case, a man underwent an eight-hour surgery at the same clinic but suddenly stopped breathing during recovery and later died at the hospital.
