A six-year-old boy was found seriously injured with a slash wound on his neck, believed to have been inflicted with a sharp weapon, at a house in Parit Raja early Monday (October 27) morning.
The incident was discovered around 5.30am, when the child’s mother, 40, woke up to find her son lying injured. She lodged a police report at 9am, said Batu Pahat district police chief Assistant Commissioner Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani.
The boy sustained a deep cut on the right side of his neck, believed to have been caused by a knife.

The boy’s parents, both aged 41, have been remanded for two days to assist investigations into the case.
The remand order was issued by Magistrate Nurasidah A. Rahman, effective Tuesday to Wednesday, to allow further investigation under Section 326 of the Penal Code (causing grievous hurt with a dangerous weapon) and Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 (neglect or abuse of a child).
The couple arrived at the Batu Pahat Magistrate’s Court at about 8.30am before being brought in for the remand proceedings. They were earlier detained at 4pm on Monday at the Batu Pahat District Police Headquarters.
Police: 9yo brother may have inflicted slash wounds on 6yo
Johor police chief Datuk Ab Rahaman Arsad said early investigations suggest the injuries may have been caused by the victim’s nine-year-old brother.
The incident reportedly took place at Kampung Parit Nipah Laut, Parit Raja, where the victim was found with slash wounds on his neck and stab injuries on his body.
“Initial findings indicate the injuries may have been inflicted by his older brother,” said Ab Rahaman. “However, the motive remains under investigation.”
Slash case has possible link to popular online game
Police have not ruled out the possibility that a popular online game may have influenced the incident.
“Preliminary investigation found that the victim’s brother was excessively engaged in an online game, where he had accumulated about one million points,” Ab Rahaman said.
It is believed the younger sibling may have damaged his brother’s phone, causing the loss of those game points.
“During questioning, the older brother showed signs of being influenced by the game and claimed to have experienced hallucinations at night – as though he was being instructed to harm his family members,” Ab Rahaman added.
He said the boy is believed to have taken a knife from the house and attacked his younger brother, but stressed that investigations are ongoing.
Victim in stable condition
The six-year-old victim is currently receiving treatment at Batu Pahat Hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.
“The investigation is still in its early stages, and we have not yet recorded the victim’s statement as he is still recovering,” Ab Rahaman said.
Both brothers are now under the supervision of the Social Welfare Department (JKM) due to their age.
Police have also referred the investigation papers to the Johor State Legal Adviser’s Office for further action.
