A couple has sparked outrage after they were allegedly caught using a stranger’s MySARA benefits with his missing MyKad, even though the card belonged to a delivery rider struggling to support his family.

The incident was shared by Malaysian activist and former teacher Mohd Fadli Salleh, who said the rider’s MyKad had allegedly been found by the couple before they used RM49 worth of his MySARA assistance at a supermarket in Setiawangsa. The rider later made an emotional appeal, asking the couple to return his MyKad as soon as possible.

He explained that he relies on the government aid because he has three children to support, including a child with disabilities (OKU), another who is still in school, and one studying at university. He earns a living as a delivery rider, making the loss of his MyKad even more difficult.

Delivery rider pleads for return of missing MyKad

“Please return it. Don’t you have any compassion? There’s a reason why I receive the SARA assistance. I have an OKU child, another in school, and another studying at university to support. I work as a rider,” he said. The rider added that he was willing to make things easier for the couple if they felt too embarrassed to face him.

“If you’re too embarrassed to return it to my house, just leave it at the supermarket. I can’t even work properly without my MyKad,” he pleaded.

Urges authorities to take action

Meanwhile, Fadli condemned the couple’s alleged actions and called on the authorities to investigate the matter.

“I really don’t understand how some people can be so inconsiderate and not think about the difficulties others face. They’re willing to take what belongs to someone else without feeling any guilt.

“I hope the authorities catch both of them. Taking advantage of someone who’s already struggling is despicable,” he wrote.
