A father confronted a vape shop owner after several students were allegedly able to buy e-cigarettes from the store, questioning why underage customers were being sold vape products.
According to the father, he had been asked by a school principal to help investigate where several students had obtained their e-cigarettes.
Father questions shop’s sales practices
During the confrontation, the father asked the shop owner to produce the business licence and stressed that customers purchasing vape products should be required to show their identity card (IC) to verify they are at least 18 years old.
Shop owner denies selling to underage
In response, the shop owner said he had previously refused to sell vape products to underage customers and had even displayed a notice stating that sales to minors were prohibited.
However, he claimed some customers would tell staff they were buying the products on behalf of their parents or relatives.
The owner also alleged that on one occasion, a family member confronted him after he refused to sell vape products to an underage individual.
The incident was reportedly recorded at a vape shop in Kepong, Kuala Lumpur.
