A reported robbery at a goldsmith in Genting Highlands has sparked rumours online that the resort is under a temporary lockdown, with visitors allegedly facing roadblocks and heavy traffic while leaving the area.

The claims began circulating on Threads after a user posted a video showing two people dressed in black apparently running through a shopping centre while dragging a large sack.

The video, however, did not capture the alleged robbery itself.

The Threads user claimed that visitors were temporarily not allowed to leave Genting Highlands and that traffic controls had been put in place.

A Threads user said he checked out and began driving downhill at around noon, but was still stuck in heavy traffic by 1pm. He later posted an update claiming that police roadblocks had been set up near a security checkpoint.

Police reportedly checking vehicles

Another user claimed to have seen police roadblocks and said officers were checking vehicles and their boots before allowing them through. Some user also claimed that security personnel had told them a serious robbery had taken place.

However, these claims remain unverified.
