A Malaysian woman went the extra mile to help a motorcyclist she spotted riding along the North-South Expressway late at night by staying behind him with her headlights on until he reached a rest stop safely.
The woman, who shared the incident on Threads said she became concerned after noticing that the rider’s motorcycle had no headlights while travelling along a dark and relatively quiet stretch of the highway.
She said she did not know the rider personally, but was worried about his safety, especially with heavy vehicles travelling at high speeds along the expressway.
Rather than simply driving past, she slowed down and followed behind the motorcyclist, keeping her headlights on so that he would be more visible to other road users.
Rider raises hand to thank her
The woman said she eventually accompanied the rider all the way to the Sungai Perak northbound R&R. As they arrived, the motorcyclist raised his hand towards her, which she took as a gesture of thanks.
She said she was surprised because she initially thought the rider had not realised she had been following him.
“I’m grateful that I could accompany him to the R&R Sungai Perak. I was surprised when I saw him raise his hand. I thought he didn’t notice that I had been following him,” she wrote.
The incident took place at around 2.42am on Sept 27, near Kampung Labu, according to her post. Her video has since gained more than 110,000 views
Netizens praising her for taking the initiative to look out for a fellow road user.
The footage showed the motorcyclist keeping to the left side of the expressway while the woman drove slowly behind him with her headlights on until they reached the rest stop.
