Honda Malaysia is recalling 87,490 vehicles across several models as a safety measure to fix possible fuel pump problems. If you’re driving one of the models listed, especially one made between 2013 and 2024, you might want to check if your car is affected.
What’s the issue?
There are two main fuel pump issues:
- Fuel pump impeller swelling – This happens when the fuel pump component swells after being in contact with fuel for a long time. It can cause trouble starting the car or, worse, lead to the engine stalling mid-drive. This issue is said to affect 84,073 units.
- High-pressure fuel pump cracking – affects another 3,417 units. Over time and with stress, cracks can develop and cause fuel leaks or a strong fuel smell, even when the car’s just sitting idle.
