A boutique in Johor Bahru (JB) recently found itself the target of two women who allegedly walked away with stolen clothes in broad daylight. Turns out, this wasn’t their first time pulling such a stunt, the duo are said to have hit at least two other boutiques before this.

Nabbing clothes worth up to RM700 in JB boutique

According to China Press, CCTV footage showed the two women walking into Megumi’s Room at Eco Botanic, Iskandar Puteri, around 1.40pm last Friday (Sept 19).

One of them pretended to browse and even tried on some outfits in front of a mirror before heading to the fitting room with a pair of shorts and a top. When she came out, only the top was in her hands.

Not their first rodeo as they had their plan set out, however failed to notice that the CCTV has captured their actions.

In another clip, the duo could be seen “trying on” clothes and then stuffing them straight into their bags. To make things look normal, one of them even brought an outfit to the cashier and pretended to pay with a card, not realising the entire act was being caught on CCTV.

Singaporeans? Possibly

The store owner later confirmed that seven items worth RM700 were stolen and that a police report was filed in Malaysia.

“We’re also looking to file a separate report in Singapore”, stressed the store owner.

She said she suspected the women were Singaporeans because of their accent, a credit card tied to a Singaporean number, and after police checked their Singapore passports.

Other boutique owners later came forward saying they too had run-ins with the same pair, with one shop even being targeted twice.

“One owner told me that when they were caught in the act, the women argued the clothes had ‘accidentally fallen’ into their bag and returned them. Everyone thought that was the end of it, but clearly, they didn’t stop there,” the boutique owner added.

Following the saga, one of the women have allegedly come forward to in hopes of settling the issue. In a screenshot posted by the owner on their page, it wrote:

“Our beloved customer has transferred the bill.”
