Meanwhile, SNCC’s tracking system has indicated that nine vessels are currently flagged as “under attack,” while 13 others have sent out “distress” signals.

Humanitarian activists aboard the intercepted ships shared live video showing tense confrontations as Israeli forces surrounded the flotilla and attempted to disable the convoy as it approached Gaza’s shores.

No injuries have been reported so far, but the GSF delegation reaffirmed their commitment to the mission despite Israel’s aggressive actions.

SNCC director-general Datuk Dr. Sani Araby Abdul Alim said Malaysian volunteers had managed to relay updates about their situation and were prepared to discard their phones into the sea if intercepted in Red Zone R2.

He added that the Israeli navy not only jammed communications using radar jammers but also deployed water cannons against smaller vessels to block their entry into Red Zone R2.

PM Anwar condemns Israeli forces

In a social media post today, Prime Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim condemned the

“I condemn in the strongest terms Israel’s interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla. These vessels carried unarmed civilians and life-saving humanitarian supplies for Gaza, yet they were met with intimidation and coercion.”

The social media post further mentioned that by blocking a humanitarian mission, Israel has shown utter contempt not only for the rights of the Palestinian people but also for the conscience of the world. The flotilla embodied solidarity, compassion and the hope of relief for those under blockade.

“I call for all Malaysian and international activists and volunteers to be released immediately! This is a humanitarian mission that brings unarmed civilians together with the help that the people of Gaza desperately need. The government will do its best to free the Malaysians in captivity.”

The social media post read, “Malaysia will take all legitimate and lawful means at our disposal to ensure Israel is held to account, especially in matters concerning Malaysian citizens. The safety and dignity of the our people are paramount, and we will not allow them to be compromised with impunity.”

“Malaysia will not back down.”

“As long as the rights and aspirations of the Palestinian people continue to be oppressed, Malaysia remains firm and will not back down from continuing to push and demand that the oppression and exploitation that has been ongoing for so long be stopped.”
