Emergency services were called at around 12.30 noon, and paramedics later pronounced her dead at the scene. Police officers, who happened to be stationed on the same floor ahead of the ASEAN Summit, stopped Namewee as he attempted to leave and subsequently escorted him back to the hotel room, where Hsieh’s body was found.

Cause of death still unclear

The forensic investigation is still ongoing, and the exact cause of death has yet to be confirmed. Some Taiwanese media outlet quoted Hsieh’s manager saying that she suffered a heart attack.

Police have found 9 blue pills on Namewee and revealed that the pills are Ecstacy pills otherwise known as MDMA. Sin Chew Daily also reported that he has allegedly tested positive for four types of drugs including, amphetamines, methamphetamine, ketamine, and THC. He was then charged in the Kuala Lumpur First Criminal Magistrate’s Court on Oct 24 for drug use and possession, where he denied the charges and paid bail.

Namewee issues public statement

On Nov 2, he posted a statement on Instagram, denying the allegations. “I have never used or carried drugs. At most, I’ve been drinking more lately,” adding that he would wait for the official police report, which expected in two to three months to clarify the situations.
