In her Instagram post, the YouTuber expressed surprise upon finding a 400g tin of MILO Chocolate Drink Powder priced at £6.90 which is approximately RM37. The item was displayed in a transparent security box, typically used for high-value or frequently stolen goods.
“Londoners please explain this. Why is MILO in prison in Tesco and £7 on top?” she wrote humorously, referencing how MILO is a common and affordable drink in places like Nigeria’s Balogun Market.
From everyday beverage to luxury item
The sight of MILO being treated as a high-priced import abroad has drawn light-hearted reactions from many Malaysians and other netizens. Often regarded as an essential part of childhood breakfasts, MILO holds nostalgic and cultural value across Asia.
