A recreational pickleball session ended in tragedy after a 32-year-old man fell from the third floor of a facility near Pudu, Kuala Lumpur.

According to the police, the incident occurred on Tuesday night when the victim attempted to access an area outside the court to retrieve a ball that had gone over a fence. Wangsa Maju district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Lazim Ismail confirmed that officers received a report at 9.43p.m.
“Preliminary findings reveal that the victim climbed over the fencing beside the court before slipping and falling to the ground level. The case has been classified as sudden death, and the body has been sent for a post-mortem examination,” he said.
Officials expressed condolences
The management of the pickleball court, where the accident took place, extended condolences to the victim’s family and urged the public to avoid speculation while investigations continue.

“We are deeply saddened by a tragic incident at our facility, which resulted in the loss of a life. At this time, we ask for understanding and compassion as we respect the privacy of the family and loves one affected,”
“We kindly urge the public to refrain from speculation while the appropriate authorities carry out their investigations,” they said.

While pickleball and similar recreational activities are generally low-risk, injuries and accidents can occur when players take unsafe actions, such as attempting to retrieve balls from restricted or elevated areas.
