An elderly man, Mohd Nor Firdaus Abdullah (68 years old) in Malaysia has captured hearts for his dedication to care for his stroke-stricken wife and two children with disabilities despite financial constraints.
“I will continue care for my family for as long as I live”

According to report by New Straits Times, the man had previously worked as a beverage maker while his wife worked as a dishwasher at the same eatery. But now, he had to quit his job to focus entirely on caring for his wife who suffered from stroke, as she could only move with the aid of a wheelchair.
Apart from that, he also responsible for the education of their two children aged 12 and 7 both with disabilities, and one suffering from autism.
Life depends on monthly assistance
He said to Masjid Tanah member of parliament Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin that he was unable to work and his family only depends on the monthly assistance from the Melaka Islamic Religious Council (Maim) and the Social Welfare Department (JKM).

“With the assistance, we are able to cover daily expenses, including paying RM250 in monthly rent, as well as purchasing disposable diapers for my wife, who also suffers from diabetes,” he said
Simple meals for sahur and breaking fast
According to Firdaus Abdullah, he shared that he has been estranged from his family since converting to Islam and no longer receives any support from them. “Although I no longer have family support, I will continue to care for my wife and children for as long as I live,” he said.
He said they were only able to make simple meals for Sahur and Iftar during Ramadan this year.
“This Ramadan has been quite emotional, and only in the fourth week, we were able to have chicken for Iftar, after receiving a cash contribution from Datuk Mas Ermieyati.”
As for Hari Raya Aidilfitri, he said the celebration will be modest. With both him and his wife no longer working and limited resources, the family of four plans to celebrate quietly at home.
Community steps in to help the family
Mas expressed concern over the family’s situation and shared plans to organise a gotong-royong to clean their rented home.
The programme will also include fundraising efforts to provide essential items such as a gas stove, rice cooker, rubber mats, and clothing rack. The goal is to ensure the family can celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri in a more comfortable and dignified way.
