Commuters on Kuala Lumpur’s Ampang-Sri Petaling LRT Line faced major disruption today after a Rapid KL train derailed near the Chan Sow Lin station during the morning rush.

According to Rapid KL, the incident happened when the train was passing a railway switch near Chan Sow Lin station.

Rapid KL confirmed that there were 25 passengers onboard the affected train at the time of the incident.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and all passengers were safely evacuated following standard operating procedures. Technical teams were immediately deployed to the site to investigate and carry out repair works.

Service disruptions across Ampang-Sri Petaling line

The derailment caused significant interruptions along the Ampang-Sri Petaling route, with several trains forced to turn back earlier than usual.

Under the temporary arrangements:

  • Trains from Sentul Timur are turning back at Pudu station
  • Separate shuttle trains between Maluri and Chan Sow Lin via Platforms 1B and 2B
  • Trains from Putra Heights are turning back at Bandar Tasik Selatan
  • Additional shuttle train services operating between Bandar Tasik Selatan and Cheras, as well as between Cheras and Pudu
  • Free shuttle buses are operating between Hang Tuah, Cheras and Pandan Jaya stations

Passengers travelling toward the city centre have been encouraged to switch to other rail services, including the Putrajaya Line via Sungai Besi station.

Rapid KL also advised commuters to follow announcements from station staff and monitor updates through the MyRapid PULSE app and official social media channels.
