In a time when inflation forces many food businesses to raise their prices, a deeply moving story has emerged from Kepong that highlights true kindness and integrity.
M’sian chef refuses to raise kuih prices
A recent viral Facebook post has shed light on Boss Dino, the dedicated craftsman behind Lov3uu Homemade Nyonya Kuih (樂油油手工糕点).
Despite facing overwhelming health hardships and a serious medical emergency, he has completely refused to raise his prices, prioritizing his community and customers over his own profit.

Dino is far from your average baker. He first made a name for himself after winning Astro Hua Hee Dai’s baking competition show Star Bakery (《民星糕手》), before later earning the “Best Traditional Food Award” for his heritage-inspired recipes.
Despite the recognition gained, he has remained incredibly humble throughout the years, as his passion for baking and appreciation for traditional flavours persevere.
He strictly honors his grandmother’s heritage recipes, dedicating hours of exhausting manual labor to ensure that low-sugar, authentic, old-school handmade kuih are prepared daily with pure ingredients.

Battling serious illness, yet still serving his community
Unfortunately, Dino is now battling serious health issues. According to a recent post, he suffers from a heart condition that has caused severe swelling in his legs and painful skin irritation.
Despite being scheduled for major surgery next month, he still continues working and serving his neighbourhood every day.
A customer shared that they bought a dozen of handmade kuih and a bowl of red bean soup for just RM13. Dino even added an extra piece of kuih for free. They described the food as not only delicious, but something made with genuine care and sincerity.
With his surgery approaching, support from the community means more than ever. If you’re around Kepong, consider stopping by his shop and showing some love.
