Swift action for the community
The Backmedic team operates across Temerloh, Bentong, Lanchang, and Kuala Krau. Although small in number, the group is known for its quick response, often being the first to reach accident scenes and stabilize victims until professional help arrives.
Founder and lawyer Mohamad Kama, known locally as “Apak,” said the initiative was created to address the urgent need for fast on-site medical support, especially in areas far from hospitals or main ambulance routes.
“Sometimes ambulances are delayed due to distance or traffic. Our team rides motorcycles to reach victims quickly and provide basic first aid until the medical team takes over. All our services are voluntary and free of charge” he said.

Dedication to save lives
Each volunteer has received basic first-aid training, ensuring they can handle emergencies such as road accidents, fainting, or cardiac arrest in public places.
According to volunteer Mohamad Fidaud, he reveals that he remains on standby 24 hours a day and responds immediately to public or official emergency calls.
“Motorcycles allow us to reach scenes faster and sometimes make the difference between life and death,” he said.
The Backmedic team plans to recruit more volunteers in the future to extend their coverage across other districts in Pahang, continuing their mission to strengthen community emergency response and uphold the spirit of humanity.
