According to a statement by the Kuala Lumpur Road Transport Department (JPJ WPKL), a Nissan GT-R was stopped during Ops Khas Luxury, conducted last Sunday (Nov 30) near the exit to the Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2) from the Gombak Toll Plaza towards Batu Caves.

Sports car was a rental unit

JPJ reported that the GTR was being driven by a young couple who had rented the vehicle. Further checks revealed that the road tax had expired and the car was operating without insurance coverage, both of which are legal requirements for any vehicle on Malaysian roads. The enforcement team subsequently seized the vehicle for further investigations.

Legal requirements emphasized

The Road Transport Department reiterated that all vehicles must have valid road tax and insurance before they are used.

“Ongoing special operations aim to curb the misuse of luxury rental vehicles and ensure compliance with road safety regulations,” they said.
