A simple meal at a restaurant turned into a touching moment after a netizen witnessed a heartwarming interaction between an elderly mother and her son.
In a Facebook post, the netizen shared that a man who appeared to be in his 50s had brought an elderly woman to the restaurant and sat at the table next to them. At one point, the mother suddenly asked the man who he was and why he had brought her there. The son simply smiled and reminded her that he was her eldest son, but she remained quiet, seemingly trying hard to remember him.
She may forget who he is, but remembers what he loved
Not long afterwards, the mother asked whether her son had ordered a big bun. When it arrived, she naturally told him that he used to love eating it as a child and that they would always share one between them. She then broke the bun into two halves, keeping one for herself and passing the other to her son.
The son smiled and asked whether she remembered that, too. Without hesitation, she replied that she did, recalling how much he loved eating the bun when he was little.
The user said the moment was particularly touching because although the mother seemed unable to recognise her son moments earlier, she could still remember a small detail from his childhood, including their habit of sharing a bun.
The post ended with a reminder to spend more time with parents while there is still an opportunity to do so, as the moments people treasure most may not be grand occasions, but ordinary things like sharing a meal together.
