The move comes as more readers turn to digital platforms, prompting the company to reassess how it operates and plans for the future. Media Mulia announced the restructuring on 1 November, describing it as part of a wider effort to secure the organisation’s long-term sustainability.

Media Mulia director and chief financial officer Abd Wahid Idris said the shift towards digital media had made it necessary for the company to adjust its business direction.

Wahid said both newspapers would continue to uphold their individual editorial identities, content styles, reporting approaches and credibility. He also pointed out that the current management had brought the two publications back after their previous owner stopped operating in 2019.

Media Mulia said the latest changes were intended to keep the organisation and both newspaper brands sustainable, while preventing a repeat of the circumstances that led to the earlier shutdown. The company added that it would continue to protect the welfare and rights of its employees in line with applicable laws and regulations.
