Known for their generosity and big payouts, Evergreen Marine Corp. is once again making headlines, offering their staffs a bonus that goes up to 10 months!

Evergreen offers 10 months’ salary bonus

According to reports released on Wednesday, the container shipping giant will be giving employees an average year-end bonus worth 10 months’ salary, a figure that’s turning heads across the industry.

The company has a long track record of eye-catching year-end bonuses. In 2021, employees received a staggering 52 months’ worth of salary. This was followed by 40 months in 2022 and 23 months in 2023. More recently, Evergreen awarded staff a 20-month bonus in 2024, further cementing its reputation as one of the most generous employers in the shipping industry.

Bonus still intact despite challenging year

The company explained that its bonus structure is tied to two key factors:

  • Overall business performance
  • Individual employee contributions.

Speaking to United Daily News (UDN), Evergreen acknowledged that the past year has been anything but smooth sailing for the shipping sector, with ongoing geopolitical tensions, trade disputes, and shifting global supply chains creating fresh challenges.

On top of that, stricter environmental regulations have added new layers of complexity to container shipping, forcing companies to adapt while absorbing higher operating costs. Evergreen said it has taken steps to stay competitive by upgrading and modernising its fleet to meet these new standards.

Financially, the company reported revenue of NT$293.37 billion (US$9.34 billion) for the first three quarters of the year. This marks a drop of NT$54.38 billion, or 15.64%, compared with the same period in 2024.

Even with these headwinds, Evergreen’s year-end bonus announcement shows the company remains committed to rewarding its workforce for navigating a turbulent year at sea.
