A foreign man allegedly pulled out several chest hairs and dropped them into his food before complaining about the “hair” and refusing to pay his RM30 bill at a restaurant in Tanjung Tokong, Penang.

The incident happened at around 5pm on Oct 4. According to the restaurant manager, the man and a woman had initially wanted to order fried chicken, but were told it was sold out. They then ordered char koay teow, an egg and a drink instead.
Things took a turn when the man later complained that there was hair in his char koay teow. Staff handed the dish to him after he raised the complaint, but the manager, identified as Mr Cheng, said he became suspicious after inspecting the strands.
“The hair was dry. If it had really been in the oily char koay teow, it should have been greasy,” Cheng said.

He added that there were around six to seven strands in the dish, and they were unusually short and did not appear to be eyelashes.
CCTV footage raises suspicions
While the staff were dealing with the complaint, the couple reportedly got up and tried to leave without paying.
Cheng said he reminded them that the bill had not been settled, but the man allegedly responded, “How can I pay for food of this quality?” before leaving without paying the roughly RM30 bill.
Still feeling that something was not right, Cheng later reviewed the restaurant’s CCTV footage.
According to him, the footage appeared to show the man repeatedly putting his hand inside his clothing, seemingly pulling out chest hair before placing it into the food.
Cheng said he shared the CCTV footage with other restaurant operators through a business messaging group as a warning, urging them to be cautious if the same pair visits their establishments.
