The father’s painful decision

According to Sin Chew Daily, their father, Huang, a lorry driver earning around RM2,600 monthly, made the heart wrenching decision to send his children to Anshun Jaz Home after struggling to make ends meet. Despite his best efforts to provide simple meals and shelter, his income could no longer sustain the cost of food, education, and daily necessities.

When the staff from the orphanage arrived at his home, Huang tried to remain strong as his children packed their belongings. However, emotions overwhelmed him as his eldest son clung tightly to his legs and unwilling to let go.

Fighting back tears, Huang told them to study hard and become good people, hoping they would have a brighter future.

Grateful to stay together

At the orphanage, the siblings are now adjusting to their new environment with the help of caregivers. Despite their difficult circumstances, they said they are grateful to still be together as a family.

“We just want to make our father proud one day. We want to study hard, go to university, and build a better life for him,” the children shared.

Hope for a brighter tomorrow

The caretakers at the home shared that the children’s father used to skip meals to save money for them, sometimes surviving on only coffees, breads, and plain rice. They described Huang as a loving father who made the painful decision only to ensure his children could have a proper education and better living conditions.

The orphanage has since arranged for the children to attend school and receive counselling to help them adapt. Meanwhile, Huang continues to work in Kuala Lumpur and plans to visit his children when possible.
