Travelling between Johor Bahru and Singapore could soon become much more convenient, with the upcoming Johor Bahru-Singapore RTS Link recently spotted undergoing testing in videos circulating on social media.

JB-Singapore RTS link spotted testing ahead of February 2027 launch

The cross-border rail project will connect Bukit Chagar in Johor Bahru to Woodlands North in Singapore, offering commuters a train journey of approximately five minutes.

Spanning around 4km, the RTS Link is designed to make daily travel between Malaysia and Singapore easier, particularly for people who regularly cross the border for work or other commitments.

Up to 10,000 passengers per hour in each direction

Once operational, the RTS Link is expected to carry up to 10,000 passengers per hour in each direction, helping to ease congestion at one of the world’s busiest land border crossings.

The service is expected to begin operations in February 2027, subject to final approvals. However, commuters should note that the advertised five-minute journey only refers to the train ride itself. Immigration clearance and waiting times are not included, so the total time needed to cross the border will be longer.

With the launch approaching, the RTS Link is expected to provide another travel option for Malaysians and Singaporeans looking for a faster way to move between the two countries.
