The homeowner’s daughter spotted the damage after returning from school and feeling uneasy, refrained from using the bathroom. Further inspection revealed that the “cloth” was in fact the body of a large python.
The incident took place around 4pm on 16 Nov in a house at Sungai Petani, according to Guang Ming Daily.
Civil defense shocked by the snake’s size
The homeowner, a 50-year-old teacher received a photo from her daughter while she was in a meeting. Upon returning home, she checked the bathroom and noticed the unfamiliar pattern hanging from the damaged ceiling. Only after her daughter used her phone to zoom in did the family realize it was a snake.
The Malaysia Civil Defense Force was contacted immediately. When they arrived and began pulling the reptile from the ceiling, the python suddenly fell to the floor, shocking everyone about its enormous size. The python was estimated to weigh around 60kg.

“I thought it was just an ordinary snake, but I didn’t expect to see such a massive python right inside my home,” the homeowner said.
Possible entry route
She believes the python may have climbed onto the roof through a rambutan tree located behind the house. She also recalled that two flower pots had been toppled over two days earlier, possibly caused by the snake as it made its way up the tree.

“This was the first time a snake entered the house. There is a swampy area behind the house that could have been the python’s origin. I have to clean the floor and carpet as it may left traces of odour and stains,” she stated.
The experience was deeply unsettling for her and her two children. Since the incident, she said they have been more cautious each time they use the bathroom.
