The Ministry of Health (KKM) has issued a nationwide ban on the ASCG Gluta Genc Glow gummy after the product was found to contain a prohibited compound, glutathione.

In a statement released on 16 Nov, KKM confirmed that the ingredient violates the Food Regulations 1985 and is not permitted for sale in any food product.
Authorities clarified that glutathione can only be registered under the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA) and is not allowed to be marketed as a food ingredient. Any food containing this compound must be registered NPRA, otherwise, it is considered unlawful.

Sales must stop immediately
KKM has ordered all retailers and distributors to cease selling the product with immediate effect. The ministry emphasized that consumers who have purchased the item should refrain from consuming it for safety reasons.

Under Section 13B(2)(d) of the Food Act 1983, no food product may contain any prohibited substances and offenders may face fines of up to RM100,000, imprisonment of up to 10 years, or both.
The public is urged to check product ingredients carefully and avoid consuming items containing banned substances to safeguard personal and family health.
