After months of anticipation, the retail component of Merdeka 118 is officially set to open this August. This new Merdeka 118 mall will sit at the base of the iconic tower, bringing a fresh shopping and lifestyle destination right into the heart of Kuala Lumpur.

The shopping complex, covering an area of 800,000 square feet across 7 floors, will have more than 300 stores and have parking space for up to 20,000 vehicles.

The mall is located just a short walk from Petaling Street and Stadium Merdeka and is currently in its final stages of preparation, with over 70% of the retail space already committed.

Retail lineup revealed

The anchor tenant is now confirmed as SOGO, replacing earlier expectations of SEIBU. This new SOGO118 concept is said to feature a more modern retail experience, with a stronger emphasis on Japanese products (Matcha bar) and curated selections of East Asian beauty brands, offering a refreshed take on the classic department store.

  • Other anchor tenants: Village Grocer, HappiKiddo, Babyshop
  • Fashion and lifestyle: Coach, Hackett London, Cole Haan, Skechers, Decathlon, Asics, LiNing, and premier local jeweller Habib Jewels
  • Food and beverage: Kenny Hills Cafe, ZUS Coffee, Oriental Kopi, Serai Premium, Dolly Dim Sum, and Cili Kampung

Beyond retail, the mall is also pushing lifestyle and cultural experiences:

  • Makanizm Food Hall (40,000 sq ft) – a large food court concept
  • Malaysian Artisan District (M.A.D.) (80,000 sq ft) – showcasing local craftsmanship and culture
  • The Atmosphere – a 20,000 sq ft event and exhibition space
