Malaysian fashion designer Dickson Lim is earning international attention after one of his custom menswear creations appeared at the 2026 Met Gala, widely regarded as the world’s most prestigious fashion event.

The Sarawak-born designer, Dickson Lim has made waves since Ty Hunter (Beyonce’s longtime stylist and fashion director) was seen wearing one of Lim’s design pieces during the MET GALA event held in New York, showcasing Malaysian menswear on an international platform.
Taking on Instagram after the event, Lim proudly described himself as the “first Malaysian designer at Met Gala”, sharing photos and videos from the iconic red carpet moment.
Known for his sharp tailoring, structured silhouettes, and contemporary menswear aesthetics, Dickson Lim has built a strong reputation in the local fashion scene over the years.
His designs have been worn by cultural icons, storytellers, and creatives from around the world, spanning countries including the United States, United Kingdom, China, Taiwan, India, Egypt, Japan, and beyond.

A proud moment for Malaysian fashion
He also took to Instagram to share his disbelief and pride after discovering that his design, worn by Hunter, was also featured on the front page of the Wall Street Journal alongside Beyonce.
“I genuinely thought this was fake for a second.
My designs on the front cover of The Wall Street Journal… alongside Beyoncé,” he wrote in the post.
He also expressed gratitude to the celebrity stylist for helping him realises a dream he never thought was possible.

There were also many comments expressing pride in his achievement, with people celebrating his success and the recognition of Malaysian talent on the global stage.
