The Ministry of Education announced that March 18, 2026, would be an additional holiday for all schools in Malaysia. This would allow students and teachers to enjoy a holiday a little earlier before the upcoming celebrations of Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

According to Kementerian Pendidikan Malaysia,

  • Schools in states classified under Group A, which include Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu, had been allocated an additional holiday on March 19 (Thursday).
  • States classified under Group B, which include Johor, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, and many others, are expected to enjoy two additional holidays on March 19 and 20 (Thursday and Friday).

This means that students across the country will be able to enjoy an extended festive break as they start making preparations and travel plans ahead of Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

This showed a part of government commitment to continuing to put the interests of the education community first, as well as ensuring that festive celebrations can be enjoyed seamlessly by families across the country.
