Some journeys are not defined by speed or distance, but by the courage it takes to begin and the strength required to finish. At the Penang Bridge International Marathon, one such journey quietly unfolded through the steady steps of a visually impaired runner named Rangga.

Before the race began, Rangga was seen preparing carefully at the Penang Bridge International Marathon venue. He started with light stretching and warm-up exercises, focusing on loosening his muscles and steadying his breathing ahead of the 10km run. His movements reflected concentration and readiness, showing how seriously he approached the challenge.

As he made his way around the starting area. Rangga carried a specially provided balloon, allowing others to easily identify and assist him when needed. The simple gesture symbolized inclusivity within the event, while also highlighting the additional considerations required for runners with visual impairments. Despite this, Rangga remained calm and positive, acknowledging those around him with a gentle smile.

Strength built through months of preparation

His wife, Nadia, who documented the journey, later shared how emotional the experience was for her.

“I felt emotional the whole time he was running,” she stated, explaining that she was deeply moved knowing the strength it took for him to stand at the starting line after five months of intense training.

The atmosphere reflected a sense of fulfillment and quiet celebration.

In the moments that followed, Rangga continued posing for photos, smiling confidently and enjoying the achievement he had worked months towards. Nadia also expressed her appreciation for his runner guide.

“Thanks to the guide runner of my husband, Sham,” she said.
