A police patrol car making its rounds late at night caught sight of a house with its gate left open, and instead of simply driving past, the officers reversed and went back to check if everything was okay.
The moment, captured on the homeowner’s CCTV, has since drawn praise online, with one woman saying it was a reminder that not all police officers should be judged by the actions of a few.
According to her Threads post, the incident happened at around 1.15am on Nov 15 last year. She said the patrol car had passed by her home shortly after 1am when the officers noticed the open gate. Suspecting that something might have happened inside, the officers backed up, returned to the house and got out to check the premises and make sure the occupants were safe.
Sharing the CCTV footage, the woman wrote: “Don’t lump everyone together. Some police officers really are doing their jobs properly.” She added that regardless of the profession, people who genuinely carry out their duties deserve to have their efforts recognised.

The post also attracted a comment from a man who claimed to be a member of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).
He thanked the woman for continuing to trust the police and said he did not deny that corruption cases are currently happening within the force. However, he felt it was unfair for the actions of one or two officers to result in all officers working under the same organisation being judged in the same way. He also expressed hope that the Integrity and Standards Compliance Department (JIPS) would conduct regular inspections of officers while they are on duty.
Another commenter thanked the woman for sharing the footage and bringing attention to the positive incident, saying that such good deeds are often taken for granted because people see them as simply part of the officers’ normal duties.
