Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana) has announced that all Rapid KL rail lines will operate round the clock from August 30 to 31 in conjunction with the 68th National Day celebrations.

In a report by Malay Mail, Prasarana group president and chief executive officer Amir Hamdan said that Prasarana is proud to be part of the heartbeat of the people.

“This initiative is not merely about providing mobility services but also reflects Prasarana’s continued commitment to strengthen public transport as a driver of unity and as a symbol of love for the nation,” said Amir.

Train lines, BRT, and selected buses will operate for 24 hours

The 24-hour service by Rapid KL will also include the Sunway Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) line, multiple bus routes, and selected Rapid On-Demand (ROD) zones to facilitate travel for those attending Merdeka events throughout the Klang Valley and Putrajaya.

Operation hours

Services will start at 6.00 a.m. on 30 August and end at 11.30 p.m. on 31 August.

Over 5,000 frontline staff too be deployed for crowd control

Amir announced that over 5,000 frontline staff will be deployed to manage crowd control and ensure smooth operations during the extended service period.

He noted that last year’s 24-hour operations provided valuable experience and insights, helping the team enhance preparations for this year.

“With more than 5,000 frontline staff on duty, we are confident the services will run more efficiently and safely. We hope Malaysians will fully utilise these facilities, gather in large numbers, and celebrate the spirit of independence in unity and harmony,” he said.

To support the demand, additional buses will be mobilised—86 routes with 235 buses on Merdeka Eve, and 100 routes with 308 buses on National Day.

Rapid KL will offer free shuttle buses to Dataran Putrajaya

In Putrajaya, Rapid KL will offer 96 free shuttle buses across three routes to Dataran Putrajaya. Meanwhile, the ROD service will deploy 20 vans covering five zones from Putrajaya Sentral station and one zone in the Central Business District.

ROD bookings can be made via the MyRapid Pulse app at a fare of RM1. The full list of bus routes and ROD zones is available on www.myrapid.com.my and Rapid KL’s social media pages.
