A long-term saver has turned a simple habit of setting aside as little as RM50 into a life-changing RM1 million windfall through Bank Simpanan Nasional’s (BSN) Sijil Simpanan Premium (SSP) scheme after 12 years of consistent saving.
A small start that changed everything

A 34-year-old state administrative officer, Muhammad Riyadhul Hanif Abdullah, became a millionaire after winning the 122nd Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) Sijil Simpanan Premium (SSP) Millionaire Draw.
According BSN, the winner was not someone who suddenly deposited a large amount in hopes of winning. Instead, the account was built slowly 12 years ago, starting with small deposits as low as RM50.
He said his interest in saving began after watching live broadcasts of the SSP draws featuring winners from different backgrounds, which motivated him to start consistently setting aside at least RM200 every month without making any withdrawals, allowing his savings to gradually grow to nearly RM10,000.
When asked how he felt, the man expressed that he was very surprised, adding that it instantly relieved his burden, as he found himself worrying about a car repair costs that amounts to several thousand ringgit.
How BSN SSP works
BSN SSP is a national savings programme that combines savings with prize-based incentives. Participants are eligible for various draws depending on their deposit amount and duration.
To participate, customers simply open an SSP account and start saving from as little as RM10. Every deposit placed into the account not only earns eligible returns depending on the amount saved, but also automatically qualifies the saver for BSN’s prize draws.
Key features include:
- Monthly RM1 million millionaire draw
- Cash prizes as low as RM10 savings entry level
- Car prizes and special category draws for loyal or consistent savers

There are different draw tiers, including monthly draws, state draws, loyalty draws, and the flagship Millionaire Draw, where qualified participants stand a chance to win up to RM1 million.
