A petrol station in Petaling Jaya is under investigation after a Singapore-registered car was caught refuelling subsidized RON95 petrol, sparking widespread attention.

Complaint leads to immediate investigation

According to KPDN Selangor’s post, on 26 April 2026, KPDN Petaling Jaya branch received a public complaint via the E-Complaint Portal, claimed that a foreign-registered vehicle had been refueling RON95 at a petrol station located in Sea Park.

Upon receiving the complaint, authorities quickly launched an investigation, reviewing CCTV footage and conducting checks at the station.

CCTV confirms illegal refuelling

According to investigation findings:

  • The vehicle owner with foreign registration number has paid for the RON95 fuel through credit card.
  • RON95 petrol was pumped directly into the vehicle’s fuel tank.
  • The car was clearly foreign-registered, making the purchase illegal under Malaysian law.

Petrol station facing legal action

Enforcement action has been taken against the petrol station for allegedly breaching Malaysia’s fuel control laws.

The case falls under:

  • Sub-Rule 3(2), the Supply Control Rules (Prohibition of Sale and Purchase of Controlled Goods) (Petrol RON95) 2026
  • Violating Sub-Rule 3(1), which prohibits selling subsidized RON95 petrol to foreign vehicles without written approval
