Under the initiative, a total of 48 ambulances have been deployed and RM1 million has also been allocated to strengthen response times ensuring timely assistance during emergencies. The programme will be implemented by phase, focusing in the districts of Petaling, Kuala Langat and Kuala Selangor, covering five local authorities and 26 state constituencies from Ijok to Sungai Pelek.
Enhancing emergency response across key districts
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin said the AKS programme is past of the state’s proactive efforts to address delays in ambulance response through a partnership with St John Ambulans Malaysia Selangor, which serves as the main implementation partner.
“This initiative ensures health mobility services reach the people quickly and efficiently, while maintaining the highest quality of care,” he said.
Also present was state public health and environment committee chairman Jamaliah Jamaluddin. The participating local authorities are:
- Shah Alam City Council
- Petaling Jaya City Council
- Subang Jaya City Council

Free medical transport for vulnerable communities
The AKS service provides free one-way or round-trip ambulance transport between patients’ homes and government health facilities, offering relief to individuals who face difficulties travelling for treatment or follow-up appointments.
Amirudin said the initiative targets households earning RM5,000 and below, bedridden patients, and those requiring oxygen or medical support during transit.
He also added that this service not only helps reduce the workload at public healthcare facilities but also eases financial burdens for eligible groups, as private ambulance trips can cost between RM350 and RM600.

Trial phase before wider expansion
The AKS programme will operate on a trial basis until November 2026, after which the state government will assess its performance and consider expanding it to six additional districts.
The initiative was first announced during the tabling of the Selangor Budget 2025, reflecting one of the commitments under the 5 Tekad 5 Tahun manifesto to enhance public healthcare accessibility and social welfare across the state.
