A violent storm struck Sijangkang Jaya in Telok Panglima Garang, Kuala Langat on Wednesday (Oct 15) afternoon, causing severe damage to several buildings, including a coordination officer’s office and a primary school. One woman was injured and temporarily trapped under the collapsed structure.

Rescue operation and injuries

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said in a statement that the emergency call was received at 4.24p.m., reporting a collapsed building that trapped a 51-year-old woman.

“Firefighters arrived promptly and found the victim conscious. She was successfully rescued within 20 minutes, at around 5.05p.m.,” he said.

The woman sustained injuries to her waist and thigh and was sent to a nearby health clinic for treatment.

Mukhlis confirmed that the collapsed structure was the office of Pakatan Harapan coordination officer, which also affected a nearby prayer hall where seven to nine students were present at the tie. All injured students received immediate medical attention from the Health Department personnel.

Meanwhile, several videos circulating on social media showed extensive storm damage in various part of Kuala Langat. A primary school in Sijangkang Jaya was reportedly hit by strong winds and a possible whirlwind, leaving its compound in disarray.

Footage showed debris, broken rooftops, and flying materials scattered across the area, while parts of the school roof were seen collapsing, causing the panic among teachers and staff.

Other clips depicted fallen trees and blocked roads near the affected sites. Authorities from the Kuala Langat District Police Headquarters, the Kuala Langat Municipal Council, and the Selangor Disaster Management Unit are currently assessing the situation.
