Two men wanted for re-arrest escaped from the Kulim Magistrates’ Court today after spotting police officers preparing to detain them.
The incident happened at around 10am, when the two accused, Mohamad Amirullah and Mohamad Ashraf, were at court for case management and document handover proceedings involving charges under Sections 324 and 353 of the Penal Code.
After completing the proceedings, the two men reportedly left through the back of the court.
At the same time, police personnel from the South Seberang Perai district police headquarters were waiting at the main entrance to carry out the re-arrest.
One suspect climbed down from first floor
The suspects reportedly noticed the police and immediately ran in different directions.
One of them fled further into the court compound before climbing down from the first floor using a pillar.
The other reportedly turned back into the court before making his escape through the rear area.
Both men eventually climbed over a fence at the back of the court and fled the scene.
Both were out on bail
Police investigations found that the two men are linked to Sungai Petani police report No. 4104/2025.
Mohamad Amirullah faces charges under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt using a dangerous weapon or means, as well as Section 353 for assaulting or using criminal force against a public servant. Mohamad Ashraf faces a charge under Section 353.
Both men were charged at the Kulim Magistrates’ Court on April 30 and were released on bail pending trial. Amirullah was granted RM4,000 bail, while Ashraf was granted RM3,000 bail.
Their case management sessions were previously held on June 8 and July 12, with another session scheduled today.
Police are now conducting a search for both men and investigating how they managed to escape while officers were preparing to re-arrest them.
