During National Month, 77-year-old former Berita Harian reporter Che Sanuddin has taken to the roads once again, cycling across Peninsular Malaysia in the name of patriotism.

This year marks his 13th National Month cycling journey, with Che Sanuddin (Translate) covering around 2,500km from his hometown of Baling, Kedah.
Cycling with 500 Malaysian flags
Che Sanuddin recently arrived in Kota Tinggi, Johor, continuing his journey towards Melaka, where he plans to celebrate the country’s 69th National Day.
His bicycle carries more than just his belongings, he is also bringing along 500 Jalur Gemilang flags.
Along the way, he gives the flags to children and visits Chinese primary schools to speak with students, hoping to encourage a stronger sense of patriotism among the younger generation.
70 to 80km a day at 77
Despite his age, Che Sanuddin continues to cycle 70 to 80km every day, travelling alone through the heat, rain and long stretches of road.
His journey began in Baling and took him through Gerik, Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang before reaching Johor.
After the National Day celebrations in Melaka, he plans to change out of his patriotic cycling outfit and cycle all the way back to Baling.

“Age is never an obstacle”
Che Sanuddin said he hopes his journey can send a message to younger Malaysians that age should never stop anyone from pursuing a goal.
For him, the long hours on the road, exhaustion and unpredictable weather are simply part of the journey.
And after 13 years of cycling for National Month, his message remains simple, with a clear goal and enough determination, there is no age limit to chasing a dream.
