A 22-year-old Malaysian university student has been left traumatised after a man allegedly grabbed her from behind and attempted to assault her while she was walking alone to work in Desa Setapak, Kuala Lumpur.

The woman, who was undergoing an industrial internship, said the incident happened at around 6.50am yesterday as she was walking from her home towards Wangsa Maju LRT Station. A man suddenly emerged from an alley, grabbed her forcefully from behind and tried to push her to the ground before making unwanted advances towards her.
Her backpack may have prevented a more serious attack
The victim said her backpack helped prevent the man from carrying out a more serious assault. Terrified, she screamed for help, prompting the man to flee the scene.
She described the suspect as a muscular man in his 20s with slightly long, curly hair. He was reportedly wearing a cap and a red tracksuit top.

The woman sustained several bruises after being grabbed roughly. Although she was frightened by the sudden attack, she continued to her internship workplace as usual. After finishing work and taking some time to calm down, she sought information and assistance online before going to a police station to lodge a report that same day.
Harian Metro reported that it was seeking confirmation from the police regarding the incident.
