The ministry has included areas for improvement involving the local navigation app in its action plan for next year, Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said. He told Malaysiakini that a parliamentary special select committee had also summoned officials from the Works Ministry and the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) for a hearing this week to provide an update on TuJu. Nanta said he was unsure whether Prosignal Consortium Sdn Bhd, the company behind the app, had also been called to attend.

“I am not sure whether the company’s involvement will also be discussed during the hearing, but they have summoned the Works Ministry to explain matters related to TuJu,” he said.

He added that the ministry had discussed TuJu during a two-day retreat over the weekend, which was attended by agencies under its supervision. The discussions covered areas that needed improvement, alongside other matters handled by the ministry.

Android users now sent to Google Maps

Meanwhile, TuJu’s latest Android update has introduced a change to its navigation feature. Under version 2.0.4, tapping the navigation button will now bring up a prompt telling users that Google Maps will be opened to guide them to their chosen destination.

This means TuJu will no longer handle route guidance itself, leaving the navigation process to Google Maps instead. The change has not reached iPhone users, as the iOS app remains on version 1.5.5, last updated in November 2025.

Nanta said the ministry was taking proactive steps to address TuJu’s shortcomings as well as other matters under its responsibility.
