Another disturbing case of alleged group sexual assault has surfaced at a secondary school in Baling, Kedah, marking the second reported incident in Malaysia within a week. This comes shortly after the first case in Melaka, where a group of students were arrested for allegedly assaulting a classmate inside a classroom.

According to reports, four male teenagers, three who are students and a dropout, were arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a female student inside a classroom between May and August this year. The suspects had also allegedly recorded he victim’s nude video, which is now being circulated online.

Deputy Superintendent Ahmad Salimi Mat Ali, the acting Baling District Police Chief, confirmed that police received a report from a 53-year-old parent at 11a.m. on last Sunday (Oct 12) after being informed by the discipline teacher about the video’s circulation online.

Following the report, the suspects were sustained at 9.30p.m. the same day, and six mobile phones were confiscated for forensic analysis.

Investigation underway under criminal code

Police investigations are ongoing under Section 375B of the Penal Code for gang rape and provisions revealed to child pornography distribution. The suspects have been remanded to assist in further investigation.

Ahmad Salimi urged the public, especially parents and guardians, to closely monitor the social interactions and daily routines of their children to prevent similar incidents.

This is the latest case follows closely after the Melaka classroom assault, where four Form 5 students were arrested for allegedly gang-raping a Form 3 student. The case drew the national attention, prompting Queen of Malaysian, Raja Zarith Sofiah, who express concern and pledge efforts to foster a safer environment in school for all students.
