The 16-year-old suspect, who is in the same class as the victim, was arrested in the Yong Peng area less than two hours after the girl was found unconscious in her school hall on Oct 3. She was pronounced dead at the scene, with injuries suggesting she had been assaulted.

Rahaman said investigators believe the suspect’s feelings towards the girl, and their close friendship, may have contributed to the incident. However, the case remains under investigation, and the authorities will determine the next steps based on the findings.

According to Rahaman, the suspect allegedly used a metal bar tied with a necktie to attack the girl after she rejected his confession.

The victim suffered severe head injuries, as well as wounds to her hands, legs and body. Police also recovered a metal bar believed to have been used in the attack.

Investigators found signs of a struggle inside the school hall, including scattered chairs and a broken vase, suggesting that a confrontation may have taken place before the girl was discovered.

Rahaman added that the investigation is nearing completion. The investigation papers will be submitted to the Attorney-General’s Chambers for a decision on the next course of action.

The suspect is being investigated for murder.
