The sudden death of Taiwanese influencer Hsieh Yu-hsin at a Kuala Lumpur hotel has taken a shocking turn as police are now investigating it as a murder.

From sudden death to murder as new info emerges

Kuala Lumpur police chief Fadil Marsus confirmed in a statement this morning that the case, which happened on October 22 at a luxury hotel in Kuala Lumpur, is no longer being treated as a sudden death. Instead, it’s now being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

“Police will continue to carry out further investigations,” said the chief, without revealing too much details.

Fate for Namewee still unknown

What’s worth noting is that the statement didn’t mention what role Malaysian singer Namewee plays in the case, nor whether he’ll face arrest.

Earlier, Fadil had confirmed that Namewee was in the same hotel room as Hsieh Yu-hsin when the incident happened. He was arrested at the scene, and police reportedly found nine ecstasy pills in the room.

On top of that, urine test points that he was positive for 4 different drugs, including amphetamines, methamphetamine, ketamine, and THC. Just two days later, on October 24, Namewee was charged at the Kuala Lumpur Magistrates’ Court for drug possession and consumption, to which he denied and paid bail.

The investigation into Hsieh Yu-hsin’s death is still ongoing, and more updates are expected as police dig deeper into what really happened that night.
