A video circulating on social media shows a homeless man subjected to aggressive behaviour outside a bank branch in Kuala Lumpur, drawing widespread criticism.

AmBank apologized about the harassment of homeless man

The footage depicts a female security guard and a man acting confrontationally toward the individual, prompting public concern about the treatment of vulnerable people in shared spaces.

In the video, the man is seen sleeping on a walkaway when a security guard sprays water at him, forcing him awake. Another man approaches, gesturing angrily and kicking the homeless individual. His belongings are scattered on the ground, followed by additional physical contact, before the man takes the hose and splashes water again, leaving the individual with no choice but no leave.

Public reaction

The video has sparked discussions online about empathy and the responsibilities of personnel representing institutions.

“If they can treat humans like that, imagine how they’d treat a stray cat.”

“Can’t you wake them nicely… speak nicely…”

“What is this, doing things like that… I’m so annoyed watching it.”

Bank issues formal apology

In response, AmBank issued an official statement expressing regret over the incident. The bank clarified that the security guard involved was employed by an external service provider, but emphasized that all representatives of the organization are expected to uphold professional conduct.
