UPM confirmed in an official statement that the incident occurred during its 49th Convocation Ceremony involving a medical graduate, Muhammad Husni Abu Bakar, who was still in his convocation gown when the emergency unfolded.

Applying basic emergency principles

According to UPM, Husni promptly assessed the woman’s condition using the ABC (Airway, Breathing, and Circulation) emergency assessment approach. He helped improve her breathing, monitored her pulse and responsiveness, and ensured the area around her was safe until she was taken to a hospital by family members.
