Gamuda had originally bought the land in December 2024 for RM424.4 million. Selling it to Pearl Computing the engineering, property and infrastructure company managed to gain a profit of RM30.83 million.

The infrastructure contract, valued at RM1.01 billion, tasked Gamuda with carrying out enabling works to support the upcoming data centre. This includes extensive earthworks and the construction of a dedicated water treatment plant.

The water treatment facility is designed to supply 65 million litres of water per day to meet the data centre’s massive cooling demands, with project completion targeted for the second quarter of 2027. To further secure water availability, an off-river storage facility is planned for completion by the fourth quarter of 2028.

In addition, new pipelines will be built to link the treatment plant directly to the data centre’s service reservoir, ensuring a stable water supply and mitigating risks from dry spells and pollution.

This major development emphasizes Google’s ongoing commitment to strengthening its digital infrastructure in Malaysia, marking a significant step forward for the country’s growing tech sector.
