Waving at the former Agong

In a TikTok video that quickly went viral, a man and his wife were seen sitting by the roadside holding a large sign. Spotting the motorcade of the former Agong approaching, they jumped to their feet and waved frantically.

When the motorcade stopped, the man placed the placard beside a plastic chair, rushed forward with a letter in hand, and approached Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, who was in the vehicle at the time. The placard read: “Ampun Tuanku, Mohon Berhenti Sekejap” (Your Highness, please stop for a moment).

The man later took a photo with the former Agong alongside the placard, a moment that quickly captured public attention.

Living without electricity for over a decade

According to his comments on the video, he and his family had lived without electricity for 13 years. He had repeatedly tried to apply for a connection but faced rejection for various reasons. Following his direct appeal to the former Agong, his application was reportedly approved the same day, and he is now awaiting the installation of an electricity meter.

Authorities have yet to comment on the incident, though NST reached out to Jerantut assemblyman Haris Salleh Hamzah to inquire why the man’s application had been delayed for so long.
