Stretching 37.8km, the new rail line will connect Bandar Utama in Petaling Jaya to Johan Setia in Klang, creating a new public transport corridor across the western Klang Valley and improving connectivity for communities that have long depended on road travel.

20 stations across Petaling Jaya, Shah Alam and Klang

The Shah Alam Line features 20 operational stations, with four additional provisional stations reserved for future development.

Key stations along the route include Bandar Utama, Glenmarie 2, Stadium Shah Alam, Dato’ Menteri, UiTM Shah Alam, Bandar Baru Klang, Pasar Klang, Bandar Bukit Tinggi and Johan Setia.

One of the biggest advantages of the new line is its integration with the existing Rapid KL rail network through two interchange stations.

At Bandar Utama, passengers can connect directly to the MRT Kajang Line, offering convenient access to major destinations such as Bukit Bintang, TRX, Pasar Seni, KL Sentral and Kajang.

Meanwhile, the Glenmarie/Glenmarie 2 station complex will serve as an interchange with the Kelana Jaya Line, linking commuters to central Kuala Lumpur, Subang Jaya, Putra Heights and Gombak.

Fares starting from RM4.30 for full journey

The Shah Alam Line will adopt Rapid KL’s distance-based fare system.

Based on the published fare table, a full journey from Bandar Utama to Johan Setia will cost RM4.90 for cash-paying passengers and RM4.30 for those using cashless payment methods such as Touch ‘n Go.

Concession card holders will enjoy lower fares, with the same end-to-end journey priced at RM2.40.

Discounts for students, senior citizens and OKU

Rapid KL currently offers three concession programmes:

  • Rapid Pelajar for Malaysian students
  • Rapid Emas for Malaysians aged 60 and above
  • Rapid Mesra for persons with disabilities (OKU) registered with the Social Welfare Department

Rapid Pelajar and Rapid Emas card holders receive a 50 per cent discount on standard cash fares, while Rapid Mesra users can travel free on all Prasarana-operated rail and bus services.

The launch of the LRT3 Shah Alam Line is expected to significantly improve connectivity between Petaling Jaya, Shah Alam and Klang.

By linking directly with both the MRT Kajang Line and Kelana Jaya Line, the new route will provide residents in the western Klang Valley with easier access to Greater Kuala Lumpur’s rail network while reducing reliance on private vehicles.
