Malaysia-registered taxis providing cross-border services will have to pay approximately RM50 per trip when entering Singapore from Jan 1, 2027, replacing the current fee of approximately RM7 per month.

Entry fee for Malaysia-registered taxis from approximately RM7 a month to RM50 per trip
Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA) said the revised ASEAN Public Service Vehicle Permit (PSVP) fee is aimed at narrowing the operating cost gap between Malaysia-registered taxis and Singapore-registered taxis serving passengers in Singapore.
The change comes after new cross-border taxi service rules took effect on May 4, allowing licensed taxis to drop passengers off anywhere in Singapore and across Johor. The updated framework also introduced additional designated pick-up points in both countries, giving commuters greater flexibility when travelling across the border. Only Malaysia-registered taxis holding valid Public Service Vehicle Licences (PSVLs) and ASEAN PSVPs are permitted to operate cross-border taxi services.

LTA warns against using unlicensed transport services
LTA reminded commuters to use only licensed cross-border taxis, noting that authorised operators carry valid insurance coverage. The authority warned that passengers using unlicensed vehicles may not be adequately protected in the event of an accident.
It added that enforcement against illegal cross-border transport services will continue, following operations in May that resulted in 14 individuals being caught for providing unauthorised services.
